Oil on Canvas: 120 x 120cmSo I am finally able to publish my second painting from my trip to Cuban, albeit being over 2 years ago now. With this painting, rather than capture the heat of the city, I thought I would focus on the colour and rhythm and hoped a sense of that Caribbean heat would come out. For colour on the buildings when painted, being communist there was only a few on sale with battleship green/grey being most popular. But of course, in strong contrast are the time locked cars left behind, bright, colourful and still going. For rhythm, cruising Havana in a 1954 Chevy had to be the iconic scene. These cars were everywhere in amongst the scrappy Lada's but I am sure this was somewhere near the Prada. As was common in Havana, there were always people chilling in the shadows and so I have included them here: can you spot them?
There will be more to come from Cuba but I am just not sure when. So many ideas, so little time: but I will get there.
